NORDYNE Supports "Shower of Love"
NORDYNE’s 2009 Shower of Love generated more than four dozen items for mothers-to–be in need. From March 16 through April 8, NORDYNE WingHaven employees generously donated diapers, wipes, onesies and other essentials to help new and expectant mothers who would otherwise not have a baby shower.

Items from the countywide baby shower were distributed by Crisis Nursery, Healthy Beginnings, Our Lady’s Inn, Mary Queen of Angels and Youth In Need – local nonprofit agencies that support parents and babies. All of the agencies work with either pregnant women and/or parents to provide parenting education and crisis intervention services, thereby minimizing the potential risk of child abuse and neglect.

NORDYNE Keeping it Cool in Qulin
On April 21, NORDYNE, made a generous donation to the Qulin, Twin Rivers Middle School. Qulin is located 15 miles southeast of Poplar Bluff, MO. In 2007 the Twin Rivers Middle School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) started the fundraising campaign, "Keep it Cool in Qulin", as an endeavor to install air conditioning in the middle school gymnasium. The estimate for the project was approximately $30,000. With the hard work and dedication of the PTO, local businesses, parents and NORDYNE, the project has become reality. The two 15 ton package systems donated by NORDYNE, were manufactured in the NORDYNE Dyersburg, TN. Facility. Collaborated efforts by a local Qulin business owner and electrician assured safe transportation of the over sized units from Dyersburg, TN. to Qulin, MO. The Qulin Middle School PTO is grateful for the donations that made this project a success.

They are honoring NORDYNE with a permanent banner which will be placed in the gymnasium..The ability to cool the gym is a great asset to the school and the community. The Gym is used for various activities, such as sports, pageants, awards ceremonies, concerts, and other community events. With the installation of the A/C systems scheduled for the month of May, just in time for the upcoming summer months everyone will be able to enjoy activities in the Gym for years to come.

NORDYNE Employees Raise $32,000 in United Way Effort

Dyersburg Employees
Employees of NORDYNE were rewarded for their generosity with a luncheon recognizing a successful United Way campaign, which raised $32,000 for the United Way of West Tennessee and the funding of many local programs and services. The NORDYNE campaign showed a 68 percent increase over last year's funds. Employees at NORDYNE increased their donation to the United Way campaign by 68 percent over funds raised in 2006.

The NORDYNE team provided $32,000 of the $500,000 raised by the 2007 Dyer County Campaign, a goal they reached by starting at the beginning.

"Every year, our approach is to organize as if this was the first campaign to be conducted at NORDYNE," said Human Resources Manager Judy Rogers. "We always make time to show the local video and this definitely contributes to the overall success (of the fundraising campaign.) In addition, we give our employees time to ask questions and to fill out their pledge forms. We try to have fun and to inform everyone about what happened to the funds that were raised last year. This takes approximately 20 minutes. I can't think of a better way to utilize this time with our employees (than) sharing with them the needs in our community and giving them an opportunity to make a difference."

"The employees at NORDYNE raised $32,000 for a 68 percent increase over last year's United Way campaign," said NORDYNE Plant Manager Aaron Tiede. "We will always make sure no employee feels pressured to contribute, but we like to make sure that all understand the importance of giving and its helping power in our community."

To celebrate the generosity of the employees, NORDYNE officials passed out T-shirts and hosted a luncheon for employees over a two-day period.

"We hope this will show how proud we are to have such caring and giving employees," said Tiede. "We want our employees to know what we accomplish is not by individual effort, but that by coming together, anything is possible." spacer--Dyersburg State Gazette
